Hugo is currently a graduate student in the HPERD Department (Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance) at the University of Idaho. He works for the UI Student Recreation Center (SRC) as the Operations' GA (Graduate Assistant) for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Hugo's specialty is to set events promoting physical activity (PA). He was the race Director for the 2007 Coeur d'Alene Marathon. He is the race Director for this 25-yard swim sprint, the Fastest Swimmer on the Palouse, and the event Director for the 1st Annual Palouse Poker Ride, hosted on April 26th 2008.

Hugo trains for triathlons and completed the Coeur d'Alene Ironman last year, ranking 636th of 2,600 racers.
